Our Expert Guide will take you on a kayaking adventure through Gutierrez Lake, a lake located north of Argentinian Patagonia, which is fed by a melting freshwater glacier by the same name. You'll spend a full day surrounded by huge snowy peaks and dense native tree forests.
We will begin by taking a van to Peuma Hue, on the shores of Gutierrez Lake, where our guide will be waiting for us with all the necessary equipment. Our backpacks with extra clothing will stay in the truck, which will meet us at the end of our journey. We'll bring hats, gloves, sunscreen, water, and a camera, and keep them with us in the kayak.
After getting acquainted with our kayaks, we'll have a safety briefing where you'll learn everything you need to know, from how to get in the kayak, to what to do in case of an unforeseen event. We'll then be ready to embark on our trip. Depending on the lake's conditions (whether there is wind or not) and what our group wants to do, we'll decide where to set out on our journey.
We will spend approximately five hours on the lake, including a stop for lunch at Muñoz Beach Bay, amid the spectacular mountains and pristine beaches with unparalleled views.
Here, our guide will open up the kayak's dry casings (watertight compartment), and take out a table, stools, kitchenette, Essen pot, snack, soft drinks, mineral water, and a variety of incredible empanadas for all to enjoy (let us know of any dietary restrictions you may have). Dessert will vary according to the weather: if its sunny, we'll enjoy delicious seasonal fruits, or if its a bit cooler, small flan cakes with dulce de leche.
After lunch and taking some time to rest, we'll continue on our adventure through a new section of the lake, until reaching Hostería El Retorno. Here, we'll be able to change our clothes and relax under the umbrellas of this unique place with a beer, coffee, tea or soda.
Join us for an unforgettable experience at the end of the world!
Note: Tour runs from September until May, and will not be cancelled or changed due to rain or snow. Remember this kayaking expedition is self-sufficient, meaning that everything necessary for the trip will be carried in our kayaks. Days of operation are flexible and can be coordinated with travelers. You must know how to swim.
Note: Depending on weather conditions, kayaking will take place in one of the following locations: Hess Lake, Nahuel Huapi Lake, Mascardi Lake, Guillelmo Lake or Steffen Lake, Moreno.
