Our Expert Guide will take you on an exciting hiking expedition to the very top of Bico do Papagaio Stone, at an impressive 989 meters above sea level, located in Sector A of Tijuca National Park. During this tour, we'll explore the lush Tijuca Forest as well as the park's second highest mountain.
Because of its pointed shape, Bico do Papagaio used to be called "Tooth Stone" or "Tooth of the Spirits" by the superstitious Tupinaba Indians, who inhabited Rio de Janeiro during colonization times. They avoided the stone believing it emanated bad energies, however nowadays, local residents and visitors come here to hang out, relax, and enjoy the good vibes of the forest.
To reach Bico do Papagaio, we will follow several trails in Tijuca Forest as we delve deeper into this natural environment. We will also visit the park museum and go for a dip in Almas Waterfall (Waterfall of the Souls). For those looking for a bit more of an adrenaline rush, you will have the opportunity to rappel down the face of the waterfall, an exciting experience with stunning views of the forest.
We will then continue on our hike until reaching the base of the mountain where the last 10 minutes will be a bit more exciting, climbing over steep, rugged territory full of roots and rocks. From the summit you will be rewarded with unparalleled views of Tijuca National Park's spectacular towering peaks.
Join us and experience the breathtaking views of Bico do Papagaio, the beauties of Tijuca Forest, and how these natural wonders seamlessly integrate with the city of Rio de Janeiro.
