Our Expert Guide will take you on a beautiful hike to discover one of Rio de Janeiro's most famous lookouts, the Pedra do Telégrafo Rock. This viewpoint is located 354 meters above the city and situated in Pedra Branca State Park, in the Praias Selvagens sector of Guaratiba Hill. Many travelers have made the journey to this rock, and you'll be sure to want to check it out for yourself!
We'll set out on our hike from Praia Grande in Barra de Guaratiba, following the trail known as Fishermen's Path. During our 3.5 km journey to the rock, we'll pass by several stunning lookouts with breathtaking views of Rio's Praias Selvagens sector featuring Praia do Perigoso, Praia do Meio, Grumari, Pontal do Recreio, Barra da Tijuca, Pedra da Gávea and all of Restinga do Marambaia (one of Brazil's largest beaches). We'll also enjoy exceptional views of the mountains in Pedra Branca State Park and Tijuca National Park. This direct contact with nature will bring you an incredible sense of freedom and peace that can only be found in the wild landscapes of Rio de Janeiro.
Although historically, Pedra do Telégrafo once housed a military station during the Second World War, lately it has become famous for the unbelievable, death-defying photos shot here - many of which have gone viral. You may have seen pictures of people hanging off the rock, seemingly dangling hundreds of feet above the ground. However, never fear, it is just an illusion. Depending on the angle at which the photograph is taken, you will either see hair-raising stunts, or the gentle decline below from where you can stand and touch the underside of the rock. Our guide knows all the best spots to capture spectacular shots and will help you take super creative pictures.
After taking in our incredible surroundings on the summit, we'll head back down to sea level. But before we finish, we'll stop to take even more beautiful photos on the gorgeous Prainha and Grumari Beaches.
Join us and discover the wonders of Rio de Janeiro's natural landscapes, admiring dazzling beaches and taking extraordinary photos!
