Our Expert Guide will take you on an exhilarating hiking excursion exploring the Garganta do Ceu Cave located on the south face of Pedra da Gavea. Here, the rock forms a beautiful natural frame creating a spectacular viewpoint where you can admire Dois Irmaos Hill and the São Conrado Beach from a unique perspective.
Our Garganta do Ceu hike begins in the Atlantic Rainforest of Tijuca National Park's C Sector. We will delve deep into this dense forest, trekking along rugged paths while surrounded by extraordinary flora and fauna. Once we reach the Garganta do Ceu Cave, we will be welcomed with one of the most beautiful views of the sprawling city of Rio de Janeiro below.
Next, we will take on several steep obstacles and basic rock climbing, using steel cables and the help of our professional guide, to reach the final trail to the summit of Pedra da Gávea. Once at the top, we will be rewarded with an even more impressive view of the lush landscapes of Rio de Janeiro. Here, we will take some time to appreciate the magnificent scenery and capture breathtaking photos as souvenirs of our journey.
Pedra da Gavea is the biggest block of solid rock by the sea in the world and stands at a staggering 842 meters. From it's peak you will be able to admire the main mountains of Rio de Janeiro, as well as Guanabara Bay, Ipanema, Leblon, São Conrado, Barra Tijuca, and the Serra dos Orgaos Region.
On our way back, we'll follow the traditional Pedra da Gavea Trail, via Carrasqueira, using a similar techniques to rappel down the face of the rock. However, this time our guide will control your decent, providing a more comfortable experience. All you need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the view.
Join us and be part of the select group of explorers to visit Rio de Janeiro's best kept adventure secret, Garganta do Ceu.
