Our Expert Guide will take you on an unforgettable day trip visiting 4 of the 16 churches recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. These churches tell the story of Jesuit and Franciscan evangelism in the area during the nineteenth century, and represent the architectural and cultural heritage of Chile.
We'll then leave Castro to head to Chonchi, where we will visit its World Heritage Church that dates back to the late nineteenth century and was built by the Jesuit congregation.
Afterwards, we'll continue our journey by taking a 10 minute ferry ride to Lemuy Island. The island has three wooden churches, and other small chapels. We'll visit the eye catching Ichuac wooden church, built in 1880, as well as Aldachildo, built in 1910.
Finally, we'll take a narrow road surrounded by sea, to reach Detif and visit it's small wooden church. Here, you'll observe fresh flowers on the church altars, demonstrating the active participation of the local community in its care and maintenance.
In the afternoon, we'll set out to return to Castro.
Join us to discover the amazing cultural heritage of the churches of Chiloé!
