Our Expert Guide will take you to the north of Castro to discover the area's ancient churches, which have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites. During a full day experience, you'll enjoy dreamy rural landscapes and discover 4 of the 16 World Heritage Churches in the area.
Our cultural journey begins in Quemchi, where we will take a short tour of the town's main sites before continuing down rural paths towards the Chapel of Aucar. Aucar is a small, mysterious island. When the tide is low, you can reach it by walking along the seabed. Upon arrival to the island, a lush tree-lined path will guide us to the wooden church.
Afterwards, we'll visit Colo, and its parochial church, dating back to the nineteenth century. Here, we will enjoy a delicious lunch with a local family.
We will continue our journey towards the town of Tenaún, where a fascinating three-towered church is located. Our last stop will be in San Juan, where we will observe it's "carpinteros de los arroyos". In San Juan, we will also visit its church of the same name, another UNESCO World Heritage Church, built in 1887.
In the afternoon, we'll set out to return to Castro.
Join us and discover the architectural treasures of Chiloé Archipelago!
