Our Expert Guides will take you on a journey exploring Atacama desert on foot, on a tour designed for those who love adventures during the day, while resting comfortably at night. You will walk among breathtaking landscapes surrounded by volcanoes and secret paths hidden in the valleys and salt lakes, while learning about the history of Atacama, its culture, archaeology, flora and fauna.
We begin by heading towards the salt mountain range, which forms a barrier between the Pacific Ocean and the Salar de Atacama. You will observe different geological formations and see how salt rises to the surface, covering it with a thin white layer, giving a lunar appearance. We'll visit "Las Tres Marias" salt statues, the salt caves, salt mines, and walk through sand dunes from where you'll delight in a spectacular sunset while enjoying a delicious cocktail.
We will explore archaeological sites, visit Death Valley, and walk through the salt mountain range to its highest point, where we'll admire a breathtaking view of Pedro River, volcanoes, and Catarpe Valley. We'll then continue to Pukara de Quitor, a fortified villa built during the last stage of cultural development in San Pedro.
On this tour you will see flamingos at the Flamencos National Reserve and discover the village of Socaire at an altitude of 3,300 meters. We'll continue to the crystal clear waters of Miscanti and Meñiques Lagoons, at 4,350 and 4,100 meters above sea level, surrounded by numerous volcanoes and mountains.
An unmissable stop on this tour is breakfast at the Tatio Geysers. We'll climb up to 4,350 meters to observe a series of fumaroles that shoot water and steam from the bowels of the earth. During dawn, you'll have the unique opportunity of admiring the beauty of the volcanic formations.
Towards the end of our trip we will visit Rainbow Valley and Cejar, where we'll take a couple of short hikes and have the chance to experience the gravitational effect of the lagoon's water, which, due to the high salt concentration, allows you to easily float on the water's surface.
Join us for this unique 6 day opportunity to explore the best of the Atacama Desert!
