Our Expert Guide will take you to discover the ins and outs of one of Chile's most traditional vineyards.
The Santa Rita Vineyard was founded in 1880 by Domingo Fernández Concha, who brought fine grape strains from France to give birth to their unique wines. His vineyard, declared a National Monument, combines the work of traditional French and American oak barrels with modern production techniques, giving the wine a unique flavor and body.
We will learn all about their wines and production process, in addition to walking through pathways and gardens full of stories. We will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch at Doña Paula, the vineyard's colonial mansion restaurant (not included). This colonial mansion has also been designated a National Monument, and was named after Doña Paula Jaraquemada, who was the owner of Santa Rita's main house more than 200 years ago.
During the tour, we will learn about many of the important historical events related to the vineyard, including Chile's independence. General Bernardo O'Higgins, one of the country's liberators, and 120 of his soldiers, took refuge in Santa Rita's wine cellars after fighting against the forces of the Spanish Crown. In honor of those 120 patriots, the label "120" was created.
Join us to discover the secrets of one of Chile's first vineyards, while tasting delicious wines and wandering landscapes full of history!
