Our Expert Guide will take you on an exciting hiking excursion to Mount Manquehue, a former volcano that has been extinct for millions of years, and one of Santiago Valley's most popular trekking destinations.
Located northeast of the city, Mount Manquehue offers one of the best views around, full of sprawling city, mountainous, and coastal landscapes. On our way to the top, we will be amazed by the mountain's impressive display of flora and fauna. In addition, we will visit its sclerophyllous forest, a unique forest which is quite rare in Chile's central zone. We'll also have the opportunity to observe the condors, eagles, and foxes that inhabit this ancient volcano.
In Mapudungun, the language of the Mapuche indigenous people, Manquehue means "Condor's Nest", and the peak was named this way due to the large condor presence in the area. If we are lucky, we will get to observe these amazing creatures soaring high over the mountains.
Join us for a fun day of hiking, just outside the city of Santiago!
