Our Expert Guide will pick you up at Santuario Nuestra Señora de la Merced in a Chilean carriage and take you to visit one of the most important beehives in all of Chile, and learn about the history of bees, their importance in the ecosystem, and the products and by-products that come from beehives. You will also learn about best beekeeping practices, and what it takes to produce some of the greatest honey in the world!
During this Honey Adventure Tour, you will have the chance to wear a special secure beekeeper suite to safely experience a hive with hundreds of bees fluttering around. The professional beekeepers will show you the honeycombs and tell you all about the life of bees: you will learn about their social structure, about each member’s role within the hive, how the honey is produced, and the tasks undertaken by the Queen.
The beekeepers will also show you the underbelly of their bee keeping system, and safely move a hive to a room to show and explain a honeycomb through a special glass. The apiaries are located in a spacious beautiful garden within the property, and boasts a variety of flowers, fruit trees, and a swimming pool.
At the end of the tour you will have the opportunity to taste and purchase the locally made honey products.
