Our Expert Guide will lead us as we head out into the hustle and bustle of downtown Santiago, where we will unveil the city’s most renowned and defining sights. You’ll enjoy an engaging adventure through our sprawling green parks before diving into significant locations related to the painful and enduring political history surrounding General Pinochet’s notorious 1973 military coup. This tour provides you with fresh knowledge and unforgettable memories of Santiago.
Once everyone is kitted up, it’s GO TIME! We will pedal through the grand Providencia neighborhood while on a casual cruise. No need to take down your kick stands, as Balmaceda and Bustamante parks are smooth riding. We'll brake for some discussions about the surrounding area and to enjoy the greenery. By this point, our group should have a friendly dog that has joined the tour as a lovely guardian.
Next, its time for the training wheels come off and to head onto the roads, cycling through cobbled streets and smooth bike paths. You’ll understand why Santiago was voted South America’s most ‘cycle friendly city.’ We will visit Plaza Italia and the new Gabriela Mistral Cultural (GAM) center. The historical GAM center sits in the hip Lastarria/Santa Lucia Neighborhoods. GAM’s astounding architectural design is worth taking some time to photograph. This neighborhood also has plenty of funky bars you'll want to come back and visit as well.
Together we'll go see the Presidential Palace and discuss the 1973 military coup. Our guide will take you straight to the heart of Chilean civil society. You will learn about the history, architecture, and listen to fascinating, but sad, stories.
We will then head back to the bike base together. You can exchange pics, fill up your water bottle, and make use of our free wifi. Your green guru will hang around to chill and help answer any questions you may still have. Here, we will point out additional places of interest on your maps and help with other tour bookings... ride-on!!
