Admire a world famous high cliff diving exhibition and San Diego Fort, one of the historical highlights of Acapulco, as well as a museum focused on Mexico's colonial era. Our walking tour allows you to go at your own pace and really soak in Acapulco's atmosphere.
Our first stop will be San Diego Fort, housing a fine museum with air-conditioning and well-lit rooms depicting the main themes of the trans-Pacific trade. Its 8-foot-thick walls contain unique and interesting professional exhibits showing life in another era. This museum focuses on the time of the Manila Galleons, which were here for 250 years.
We'll continue our tour visiting the new town square, or Zócalo, with the domed Moorish-style cathedral, built in 1936. The statue on the left tower is of San Felipe de Jesús, Mexico’s first saint.
From here it’s only about a ten minute walk to la Quebrada, but it’s all uphill. If you’re running late, or feeling tired, hail a little blue taxi to bring you up the hill.
We will also make a shopping stop where we can enjoy beers, margaritas, and sodas. Here we’ll have a spectacular view of the open Pacific. The stairway just ahead leads to the viewing platforms where we can watch the cliff divers perform death defying stunts.
