Our Expert Guides will take you on an incredible journey through Moray and Maras, where you will learn all about Inca history and the traces they left behind them on this fascinating land.
Moray is known for its peculiar terraces, which take on a circular form, similar to a maze or amphitheater in shape. In 1985 a study was done placing thermometers on each terrace, resulting in completely different temperatures and climates on every level. Because of this, crops naturalized, therefore improving their production.
Afterwards, we will continue to the "salinera" or "salt mines" of Maras. Here, you will find over 3000 production wells currently used to extract natural salt. The wells are watered frequently during the dry season, and once the water evaporates, salt condenses into each well. This process is repeated until the salt level reaches about 10 cm. Then, it is processed, packaged and shipped to markets for sales all over the country.
Join us for an unforgettable journey through the natural architecture of the Inca people!
