Description

Our Expert Motorcycle Guides will lead you on a whirlwind but a tranquil tour of the most spectacular mountains in all of Southern California!

If we were to use two words to describe this tour, it would mostly be "Country" and "Western"; two perfect words that best describe this epic ride.

We start our grand journey riding through Azusa Canyon (aka Azusa 39), which starts off at the 210 Freeway and winds through a wide and high canyon road in very good condition. Azusa Canyon goes nearly all the way to Crystal Lake Village and campground. Sweepers after sweepers, it is a nice and safe enough playground for weekend warriors of all kinds. Past the East Fork and several off-road trail roads, SUV and OHV camps, the road starts gently climbing until it reaches Crystal Lake Campground. Crystal Lake is a great to snap a few photos, but even more, the view is astounding! A small trading post up at the lakes provides most of what we need including some very decent hot plates and cold drinks.

On the way down, the East Fork rides along a river bed where locals come and camp, fish, bath or just hang out. During 2014, this whole area was made into a National Park. Past Camp Williams and the popular camping area we make a sharp right turn to start twisting through the Glendora Mountain Road. This is a twisty road that connects the side of the mountain to the Pride of the Foothills, Glendora (founded 1911).

When we get to a crossroad nicknamed the Saddle, we find ourselves on Mount Baldy Ridge, a wide-open ridge overseeing the Los Angeles Basin on one side, the next mountain range of the San Gabriel Mountains on the other side. This road is spectacular, sunny and shady, providing scenic views all along. Mt Baldy village is a very secluded community who keeps fighting the big telcos ( ATT, Verizon, and the likes) to prevent them from installing cellular antennas. So no smartphones!

Once there we usually ride back to the Saddle and down on Glendora Mountain Range to Glendora; maybe a bit tired but very much satisfied.

This ride is a rite of passage and favorite route of Angelino Bikers who never miss a weekend to take advantage of the great outdoors surrounding Los Angeles. Come join us to discover the great outdoors of California, take part in an unbelievable motorcycle ride, and be a bit adventurous as we ride and wind our way amongst the California mountains!
